  Face it, smokers are costing us all money. This company has just found a way to trim their health care costs, which EVERY company wants to do, because these costs are skyrocketing.

Yeha they wire you up with a bunch of electrodes running here there and everywhere, they they put a camera on you, then expect you to fall asleep!!! No Apologies

  so i am watching american idol(yes i have no life) and one of the winners came out screaming and holding what looked like a nw translation - black cover.

  can anybody with a tivo confirm?

  it was like just before the horrible guy in the purple shirt came on.

  I can't get a straight answer

  can anyone tell me if the organization believes that when a married spouse is addicted to pornography, they are actually cheating?

  i mean cheating in the sense that the "innocent" spouse can then declare that they are victims of adultery, and be free to marry again?

  i looked around their website and found nothing that specifically stated that it is considered cheating.

  Has anyone else heard of a recent adjustment, where someone viewing Pornography *on the Internet* has automatically disassociated themselves? This is only internet porn, not videos, magazines, braille, morse code, interpretive dance.. ok sorry about that, I am getting off track... Anyway the rationalization I heard was that somehow viewing porn online was a "public" thing, somehow everyone would know you were viewing this or that site. Which makes no sense at all. I'm fairly certain the kid at the movie knows which customers like to rent the movies from the little room in the back, the guy at the book store has his regular customers, if anything the internet is more anonymous, not less.

  I think the real reason for this is to further demonize the Net to the R&F. If young brother zealous is afraid to look for porn online, he sure isn't going to be looking for apostate sites.

  Anyway, has anyone else heard of this? It was from a KM school 2-3 years ago, I believe.

  Some of you have obviously never read The Lord of the Rings. While I have to agree the movies may have been overrated and hyped to death, the original material is probably the 20th century's greatest piece of fiction(unless you include OJ's hunt for the real killer).

  Marilyn Monroe was a beautiful girl whose natural way was exploited by powerful people in Hollywood and the American political scene. When she became a perceived threat, she was murdered. She will always represent, quintessentially, how evil can destroy innocence.

  Rigghhtt.... Who exactly was so innocent about her? Who would ever perceive her as a threat worth murdering?

  And to keep on topic: Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, and the NFL.

  Eh if you kept looking at porn sooner or later wouldn't they just nail you for being unrepentant...

  That still does not give the mate grounds for divorce.

  The WTS considers "fornication" or "adultry" to be a reproductive act. Therefore any act which cannot produce a child is not fornication or adultery.

  Also incorrect. Bestiality and things like oral and anal sex between unmarried individuals are considered fornication.

  I believe fornication or porneia is currently defined has to include the "improper" use of at least one set of genitalia and two individuals/bodies. Thus an individual masturbating doesn't count, adultery does count, bestiality counts, etc. Phone sex seems to be a stretch, but I think did see somewhere that that would be considered porneia.

  An End To The Quick-Build KH?

  i've just been talking with a recently departed dub elder.

  he tells me that the wtbts are becoming very wary of lending money for kh "quick-builds".

  he says that, in the uk at least, there are brothers who act as building inspectors who have been appointed by the society to make sure that any new kh being built comes up to certain minimum standards before the society will part with any mortgaged money.. this, he says, has brought to an end the era of the quickie partly pre-fabricated kingdom hall, so beloved of the local news conscious dubbies.

  In this area, they are inspected each step of the way by non-JW government employees.

  I heard a good story straight from the elder's mouth a couple years ago. Seems there was a lot of local opposition to a new Kingdom Hall being built in a very Catholic community in central Minnesota. In order to 'expedite' the process, the brothers ended up slipping the inspector some $$$ to approve their permits. I was surprised to hear such a thing would be done( I know, I am quite naive), but even more surprised that this elder was bragging about it.

  Non internet infor on UN scandal..please!

  i am a fortunate 'apostate'.

  my parents are still speaking to me, regularly, and we also have been discussing jw doctrine.

  however, they do not believe anything i tell them about the un scandal and that the wtbts was a member of the un for ten years before being removed by the un.

  You could always do what I did, find the nearest UN Depository library at http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/deplib/index.html, then go there and find a copy of the DPI-NGO member directory printed between 1991 and 2001 and see the Watchtower Society listed there alongside dozens of other groups, many of them religious in nature. Make a few photocopies of the relevant pages, and share with the family.

  The UN NGO is explained away easily by the elders.

  Yes they have their story explanation straight now. The rules have changed since the WT joined. Sounds good, too bad they have absolutely no proof to back this up. And it still doesn't explain why they fulfilled their end of the agreement by printing dozens of articles in Awake! during the 90's...
